Professor Katsh–who is also the Director of the National Center for Technology and Dispute Resolution and the Chair of a U.N. Forum on Online Dispute Resolution–discusses Sealand, Second Life, virtual worlds and the law and borders of cyberspace in this broad and substantive discussion.

D’Errico Talk @ Gordon Hall

picture-1-13-41-35Legal Studies Professor Emeritus Peter d’Errico will be giving a talk on Thursday, March 12th, at 4:15 in Gordon Hall 303.

d’Errico is one of the founders of the Legal Studies Department. He has authored many influential texts in the field of critical legal studies, including Corporate Personality and Human Commodification, an article which dissects the idea, origins, and effects of corporate personhood in American law.

He will be giving a talk entitled “Indigenous People and the United States: A Manifesto.”

Article: E-Commerce, E-Disputes, and E-Dispute Resolution: In the Shadow of “eBay Law”

In this 1999 paper, Professors Gaitenby, Katsh, and Rifkin wrote about the process of online dispute resolution at eBay. The Legal Studies Department has a long history with SquareTrade, the company behind eBay’s dispute resolution software, and its founder Colin Rule.
